About this Journal
Welcome to the Queer Graduate and Professional student Association (QGPA)'s blog! As our name says, we're a group of graduate and professional students at the University of Minnesota. During the academic year, we put on a lot of activities, including lunches, social outings to bars and coffee shops, and "Building Bridges," our first annual community fair -- with lunch and dessert provided! If you have ideas to share, come to our weekly business meetings, or post your idea right here.

May. 14th, 2007 @ 09:30 pm Happy Hour: Friday at PI
Tags:
If you haven't left the Cities yet, join us on Friday, May 18th, from 5:30-8pm at PI Bar, located at 2532 25th Ave S in Minneapolis. PI is the newest, best, and only lesbian bar in the Twin Cities, and they deserve our business. Drink specials and free pool from 4-8pm also make it an especially sweet deal. If you and your friend join us, we might make this a monthly event.

It's even a Facebook event

Hi all -

#1 - EDINA
We got 16 people down to Edina tonight (quite a feat, I think!) and 6 of us trekked 6 blocks to a colorful diner, for malts and burgers. Quite a time!

#2 - BACK?
When's everyone getting back? I foresse a laid back semester, with steady social gatherings and an excellent seminar or two.

What about you?

#3 - HAPPY
Can we agree online to the first QGPA happy hour being the 19th at the Kitty Cat Klub? It's the 3rd Friday, to boot, so we're even keeping up the same schedule. We can have a Groundhogs Day Happy Hour at Pi, with much fanfare. :)

See you soon?

Sep. 11th, 2006 @ 12:19 pm "Saint of 9/11" tonight?
At 9:15 tonight the Bell Auditorium (10 Church St SE - map) is showing "Saint of 9/11" (link). It's a poignant look at the life of Fr. Mychal Judge, the gay chaplain of NY Fire Department, who died on this day 5 years ago.

I know it's last minute, but phramok and I are planning to go and I wanted to open the invitation to all the U-related queer-friendly folks we know. I was looking for a way to pay tribute on this day without a lot of flag-waving, and this seems appropriate.

If you can come, drop me a line so we can wait for you. And please spread the word to anyone you know who might want to come along. Cost is only $6 for students, it's only 90 minutes long, it's really close to the U, and we'll be there. How could you say no? =)
